On a street in the U.S., there was an elementary school student who was shocked by Afro-American a cappella and street performance. His older brother Daihey (Daihei) began to sing, and also, influenced by him, his younger brother Yas-O began to sing. The couple became obsessed with BLACK MUSIC, and it all started when Daihey formed a rhythm-and-blues band-WOOD STOCK. Later, his younger brother, Yas-O, joined WOODSTOCK, which led to the formation of COOL M.B. WOOD STOCK demonstrated his abilities in various fields, including winning four record companies’ awards at YAMAHA Band Explosion National Competition in 1990. In 1999, Yoshikazu Yokota, a.k.a. YOSHIBO, the leader of the charismatic dancing unit Be Bop Crew, recognized their singing voices and VIBE. Then, in 2000, they started their full-fledged activities as COOSs with DJ MICK, who supported the early days of Japanese Hip Hop and is highly regarded worldwide as a turntablist, as their sound producer. After that, he joined the artist-group MVP(Mick Visual Production founded by DJ MICK, and has been performing in various places based in Fukuoka. After participating in DJMICK’s “EXPAND&ELEVATE” album released in March 2001, COOSs more than made themselves known as a talented R&B band.
